I have been running on a regular basis now for about a month. And at first, I have to admit, I did not like it. But I was determined to do it anyway as a means for losing weight. But within that months' time I came to love running; almost craving it the days I don't run. There is nothing else like going outside to run and listening to your feet hit the pavement, one right after the other, for an extended period of time. And it gives me time to be alone, to think, so sort things out, to concentrate, when I might not otherwise get that alone time during the day.So to make a long story short, I set a goal with my sister to run a 5K in January. Not long after saying that she called me with the chance to run a 5K at the beginning of December. So with a little reluctance I said yes, I'll do it.
When the morning of the race came and I felt good, but my poor sister was sick, but decided to run anyway. We didn't set a world record or qualify for the olympics or even come in first, but we finished. My time ended up being 39:09 so now I have something to beat, something to look forward to at the next race, and hopefully my sister won't be sick again for that one. :)
