Never Forget.

This weekend marks the 10th anniversary of one of the most infamous days in our nation's history. September 11, 2001. It is something I will always remember. I bet you know where you were. What you were doing.

I was getting ready for work and had just gotten out of the shower. I turned on the Today Show and sat down on my bed to put my makeup on. The images of that second airplane flying directly into one of the twin towers is something that is seared into my memory forever. I was horrified; terrified, actually. I was overcome with sadness and panicked for those people hanging from windows, begging for help.

That day changed our world. It changed my life. I was almost seven months pregnant with my first child and the level of uncertainty, seeing that this kind of humanity was happening in my own country was almost too much for me to take. I was worried about what the future would hold.

And for the first time it really made me realize that freedom wasn't actually free and that there are real men and women out there so willingly putting their lives on the line so that I may enjoy such freedoms.

I think this picture gave a lot of people a sense of pride and a feeling of hope. It has become one of my favorites.

We must never forget what happened ten years ago. We must never forget all those innocent lives that were lost. We need to keep that sense of unity alive. Tell your children what happened. Pray for our country. Pray for peace. And never forget!

This was very well written. I really appreciate your thoughts on this. I hope our children never have to witness this kind of tragedy in their lifetime.
