San Diego - Day 2

One of these years I am actually going to take a vacation where you actually RELAX. This trip was full of everything but relaxation. Every day we were getting up at six o'clock so we could be down to the conference area at seven o'clock to be some of the first to eat breakfast before everyone else in the hotel got there. This particular morning Breckon was so tired we all went down (except Kyle - I did not leave him in the hotel by himself people) and had our breakfast and returned to the room before he even woke up.

This day was all about the beach, the tide pooling, the seal sightings, and picnicing. We drove up the coast for a while before deciding to get out and walk around.

We went to the beaches in La Jolla. They were beautiful, the water was full of seals and not too many people were around.

This was the first time my kids had ever been to the ocean - and hopefully it isn't the last.

Payton and Britney were warned that the tide was high and they were bound to get wet if they got too close, but they had to test it for themselves.

The kids pool in La Jolla - it has been completely taken over by the seals. Since the tide was so high most of the seals were really close to the stairs so we got to see a lot of them up close. We sat here for quite a while and watched the seals.

This little seal was actually born just an hour or two before we showed up. He was so fun to watch.

Somewhere around 10 o'clock we parked the car for good and went down to the beach to play around. The water was freezing cold and I wondered how many of us were going to have to be treated for hypothermia before the end of the day. But the temperature of the water didn't stop the kids. Weston would often bury himself in the warm sand in order to warm up after playing in the water.

Here is my little sunbather stalker. He was often caught throwing handfuls of sand on the people laying on the beach - which I couldn't help but laugh.

Woody never goes anywhere without us - and this vacation was no exception. Breckon had so much fun putting him and Bullseye in the sand and them "finding" them. Here is he asking Woody if he was ok after being pulled from the sand.

The whole day was so nice - we were pretty much the only ones on this section of beach. To end the night we ended up getting ice cream at Coldstone instead of eating dinner (I know, I'm not going to get mother of the year for that one), but these types of things happen on vacation.
